Comprehensive DOT drug testing is essential for any transportation company’s compliance program with the Department of Transportation (DOT). All drivers or employers of drivers with a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must adhere to specific drug testing procedures mandated by the DOT and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
DOT drug testing regulations dictate the types of drugs that need to be tested for, the timing and frequency of tests, the facilities authorized to conduct DOT-approved tests, and the requirements for a trucking company’s Drug-Free Workplace program, among other details.
Our primary care services provide comprehensive and personalized medical care to all patients, from preventative care to chronic disease management.
All owner-operators or employees must complete a pre-employment drug test and receive negative results before operating a vehicle that requires a Commercial Driver’s License.
If an employer suspects that an employee may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at work, the employee may be required to take a drug or alcohol test.
Following an accident, drivers may be required to take immediate drug and alcohol tests depending on the severity of the accident and the injuries sustained, to determine individual responsibility.
If a driver has previously tested positive for drugs or alcohol, they must return a negative result on a “return-to-duty” drug test before resuming their duties.
Drivers who have successfully completed the return-to-duty process, including a negative return-to-duty test, are required to undergo several follow-up tests over the subsequent year.
At Ark Medical Services, we prioritize client confidentiality, ensuring all drug test results are securely transmitted to protect privacy. If a test returns a positive result, our certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) will contact the employee to determine if there are valid medical reasons, such as prescribed medications. If no valid explanation is found, the employee should be removed from safety-sensitive duties, and management should consult our Drug and Alcohol Policy for the next steps.
